DUCKS MAKE DONATION TO ALS RIDE FOR LIFE

Long Island’s hometown team presents organization with $1,000 check

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 2, 2014) – Prior to the Long Island Ducks game against the Bridgeport Bluefish on Wednesday, July 2 at Bethpage Ballpark, the Ducks presented a check for $1,000 to the ALS Ride for Life organization. The donation was made on behalf of the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks.

“The Ducks are proud to continue supporting Ride for Life and their mission to serve the ALS community,” said Ducks founder and CEO Frank Boulton. “They do a marvelous job of raising public awareness for ALS, and we look forward to teaming up with them for years to come.”

Ride for Life, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation that was begun in 1997 by ALS patients, caregivers and those who care about people living with ALS. Each May during ALS Awareness Month, ALS patients ride their electric wheelchairs for multiple days down the highways and byways to raise funds for a cure and create awareness about ALS. During the past 16 years, ALS patients rode their wheelchairs from Yankee Stadium to Washington D.C., from Montauk Point to Manhattan and across Long Island. The first Ride began in 1998, and the Ride Event has helped raise over 7 million dollars.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
