Cuas returns for a second season with the Flock and fifth in professional baseball. The right-hander heads back to Long Island after making 22 appearances with the team in 2018. He compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.38 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 22.2 innings of work. The Woodhaven, N.Y. resident made 10 consecutive scoreless appearances from August 2-29, a span totaling 11.1 innings, and then turned in six scoreless outings in a row to close out the regular season (6.2 innings). The righty also went on to make three postseason appearances for Long Island during their run to the Atlantic League Championship Series.
Prior to joining the Ducks, the 24-year-old pitched in 13 games with Single-A Wisconsin in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, striking out 19 batters over 19.1 innings. He spent four seasons overall in the Brewers system, including the first three as an infielder. The Grand Street Campus High School (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and University of Maryland alum totaled a .200 batting average with 16 home runs, 95 RBIs, 109 runs, 189 hits, 45 doubles, nine triples and 16 stolen bases over 295 games. Cuas was originally selected by the Brewers in the 11th round of the 2015 amateur draft.
