(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 17, 2023) – The Long Island Ducks today announced that outfielder Alex Dickerson has been named the team’s Most Valuable Player for the 2023 season, presented by Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers. The announcement was made prior to the Ducks regular season home finale on Sunday, September 17, which was Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark, presented by Coca-Cola.

Dickerson received the most selections during fan voting at LIDucks.com for the team’s MVP award. The outfielder was among the team and Atlantic League’s top players in 2023. He ranked in the ALPB’s Top 10 in batting average (.314), home runs (26), RBIs (91), total bases (231), slugging percentage (.576) and OPS (.965). He led the Ducks in each of those categories as well except for RBIs, as he finished one behind Sam Travis. For being chosen as the Team MVP, Dickerson received a luxury wristwatch, courtesy of Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers.

The Ducks also announced that outfielder Boog Powell has been won this season’s P.C. Richard and Son Whistle Player of the Year competition. The first-year Duck scored the most runs in games which he was designated as the Whistle Player of the Game. Overall, Powell has had a solid campaign, hitting .285 with six homers, 35 RBIs, 50 runs, 68 hits, 12 doubles, 34 walks, 18 stolen bases and a .788 OPS. By winning the Whistle Player of the Year competition, Powell received a $500 gift card, courtesy of P.C. Richard and Son.
