Attendance mark surpassed in 17th season
(Central Islip, N.Y., May 18, 2014) – Over the weekend, the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (“ALPB”) welcomed its 30 Millionth Fan through the turnstiles in this, the 17th year of existence for the circuit. Each club in the league, including the Long Island Ducks, is celebrating the milestone by recognizing fans from their member city with a special ceremony.

“We are excited to celebrate surpassing 30 million fans coming to our ballparks in just our 17th year,” says Atlantic League of Professional Baseball president Rick White. “Our goal every year is to provide affordable family entertainment for all baseball fans, and their support is what keeps us going.”
On Sunday afternoon, Sandy Van Essendelft was chosen as the honorary 30 millionth fan to represent the Long Island Ducks. The long-time season ticket holder threw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to Sunday’s game against the Riversharks, had her name displayed prominently on the DuckVision video board, took a photo on the field with baseball legend Bud Harrelson and received a commemorative 30 millionth fan jersey.
The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs has brought a high level of professional baseball and affordable family entertainment to selected communities since 1998. Since beginning play 16 years ago, the contracts of more than 600 Atlantic League players have been purchased by Major League organizations.
