Kern wins second straight start with seven strong innings
 

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 29, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-5 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game set at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Revolution took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a leadoff home run by Andres Perez. Long Island jumped in front 4-1 in the fourth on an RBI single by Cody Puckett, an RBI double by Dan Lyons, and a two-run single by Mike Dowd.

Brandon Chaves’ RBI single in the fifth cut the Ducks lead to 4-2, but Long Island answered in the sixth on Fehlandt Lentini’s two-run single. A two-run triple by Lentini in the eighth increased the lead to 8-2.

York rallied in the ninth, scoring three runs on a two-run single by Joel Guzman and an RBI single by Perez. However, they were unable to complete the comeback.

Bruce Kern (2-1) earned the win, yielding two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts over seven innings. Tony Pena (5-3) took the loss, surrendering six runs on 12 hits. He struck out four and walked two in six innings.

Lentini and Puckett led the Ducks with three hits apiece, while Dowd and Delta Cleary Jr. each added two hits.

The Ducks and Revolution wrap up their four-game series on Thursday night. Game time is set for 6:35 p.m. with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Dr. QuackerJack T-Shirts, courtesy of Peconic Bay Medical Center. It’s also a Thirsty Thursday, and the Duck Club restaurant and bar will be open to all in attendance. Fans will be treated to both food and drink specials, including half price domestics. Lefty Jack Snodgrass (5-5, 3.45 ERA) gets the baseball for the Ducks against York right-hander Ty’Relle Harris (2-2, 3.78 ERA).
