Ducks clinch second straight series win
 

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 12, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-1 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

Bridgeport struck first in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by James Simmons. The Ducks answered right back in the bottom of the inning when Adam Bailey smacked a RBI single to center. Long Island took the lead in the fifth on a Josh Barfield sacrifice fly to right.

Another run in the sixth inning on a second RBI single by Bailey and a Danny Perales solo home run to right field in the seventh stretched the lead to three.

Long Island starter James Houser (3-0) picked up the win, throwing five and two-third innings, giving up four hits and one run with seven strikeouts and no walks. Bluefish starter Josh Butler (3-3) took the loss, letting up three runs on seven hits and four walks in six innings. Leo Rosales pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 11th save of the season.

Bryant Nelson, Joash Brodin, Perales and Bailey each recorded two hits for the Flock.

The Ducks and Bluefish wrap up their three-game set on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. It’s Health Night at the ballpark, and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Commemorative T-Shirts presented by North Shore LIJ/Southside Hospital. Righty John Brownell gets the ball for the Ducks while lefthander Hunter Jones takes the mound for Bridgeport.

Duck Tales: James Houser struck out a season-high seven batters. His previous season high was five, coming in his most recent start on June 5 at Bridgeport. His five and two-third innings was also a season high…Bryant Nelson recorded his third straight multi-hit game, ninth two-hit game of the season and his 11th multi-hit game overall…With two RBI singles, Adam Bailey now has ten two-hit games and a team high six two-RBI games. Overall, Bailey has 12 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games…The home run by Danny Perales was his team-leading ninth of the season and his fourth at Bethpage Ballpark. He now has 36 runs batted in, which also leads the Ducks. It was also his 14th two-hit game and 17th multi-hit game this season…Joash Brodin posted his 15th two-hit game and 20th multi-hit game. Both of those are Ducks highs in 2013.
