Lancaster jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and another in the fifth against Ducks starter Chris McCoy. A RBI double by Blake Gailen, a sac fly off the bat of Tommy Everidge and a RBI single by Fehlandt Lentini did the damage. Three more runs in the eighth inning extended the lead to six.
Long Island cut the deficit back to two in the bottom of the eighth on Bryant Nelson’s grand slam to right field. However, the Ducks could not pull even.
Dwayne Pollok (13-3) started for Lancaster and earned the win, tossing seven and one-third innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. McCoy (2-3) took the loss, surrendering six runs (five earned) on 11 hits while striking out four in seven and one-third innings. Tim Hamulack earned his 31st save with a scoreless ninth.
Nelson led the Ducks with two hits.
