Ducks pitchers strike out season-high 14 batters in defeat
 

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 27, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers on Saturday night in game two of a day/night doubleheader at Bethpage Ballpark. CLICK HERE for the recap from game one.

Lancaster took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by K.C. Hobson off of Ducks starter Tim Melville. Three more runs in the third on an RBI double by Hobson and a two-run home run to left by Sean Halton increased the lead to four.

The Barnstormers added a pair of runs in both the fourth and seventh innings to double their lead. RBI singles by Anderson De La Rosa, Rico Noel and Halton highlighted the scoring. A two-run double by Lastings Milledge in the ninth rounded out the scoring.

Barnstormers starter Brad Bergesen (3-2) earned the win with five scoreless innings, yielding just two hits while striking out six. Melville (2-3) took the loss despite striking out seven batters, as he surrendered six runs (five earned) on seven hits and a walk in three and two-thirds innings.

Delta Cleary Jr. led the Flock with a pair of hits.

The Ducks and Barnstormers wrap up their four-game set on Sunday afternoon. Game time is slated for 1:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 12:35 (12:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s a Sunday Family Funday at the ballpark! Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Ducks from 12:50 to 1:05. After the game, kids and kids at heart can take part in Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Right-hander John Brownell (3-0, 2.49) gets the ball for the Ducks against Barnstormers southpaw Nate Reed (0-1, 5.14).
