(Lancaster, Penn., June 11, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 6-5 in 10 innings on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

GAME AUDIO: Bryant Nelson’s solo homer in the fourth

GAME AUDIO: Shawn Williams’ game-tying three-run homer in the eighth

Lancaster grabbed the lead with a first inning sac fly to right from Tommy Everidge off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann. Long Island responded in the second with a RBI single by James McOwen off Barnstormers starter Mark Brackman to tie it at one.

After single runs in the second and third put the ‘Stormers on top 3-1, a monster solo homer from Bryant Nelson in the fourth cut the deficit to one. Single runs in the fifth and seventh on a RBI double by Terry Tiffee and a solo homer by Lentini increased the Lancaster lead to three, but Shawn Williams pulled the Ducks back even with a two-out, three-run homer to center in the eighth, tying the game at five.

It stayed that way until the bottom of the 10th when a RBI double to right-center by Emerson Frostad gave the Barnstormers a walk-off win.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Zimmermann tossed six and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out three, and Brackman last five and two-thirds innings, yielding two runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Tim Hamulack (2-1) got the win with a scoreless inning of relief, while Jeremy Hill (2-1) was saddled with the loss, allowing an unearned run in two-thirds of an inning.

Nelson and Brandon Sing led the Ducks with two hits apiece, while Williams drove in a game-high three runs.
