(Lancaster, Penn., Aug. 24, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 17-3 on Friday night in the first game of a three-game series.

The Ducks were led at the plate by Ray Navarrete, who hit a pair of home runs in the contest to extend his season total to 17. His solo shot in the first and two-run blast in the third also moved him into a tie with Chris Nowak for the league-lead in RBI with 78.

Lancaster scored in six of their eight innings at the plate tonight. Ryan Harvey and Fehlandt Lentini led the way for the Barnstormers, with each picking up four hits and two home runs on the night. Harvey set the pace with six RBI while Lentini added five, as the hosts totaled 25 hits in the contest.

J.D. Durbin (10-9) got the win, tossing seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and five walks while striking out five. Chris McCoy (1-1) took the loss, surrendering 10 runs on 14 hits in three and one-third innings of work.

Long Island returns home on Monday, August 27 to open a three-game series against the Camden Riversharks. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at a special time of 5:10 for a softball game between the Suffolk County Police Department and Suffolk County Corrections.
