(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 5, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 12-5 on Friday night in Game Three of the Atlantic League Championship Series at Bethpage Ballpark. The Barnstormers now lead the best-of-five series two to one.

Long Island jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one in the second off Barnstormers starter J.D. Durbin. A bases-loaded walk to Bryant Nelson, a RBI fielder’s choice by Lee Cruz and a run-scoring ground out by Joash Brodin did the damage. Lancaster responded with a six-run fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead. A two-run single by Travis Denker and a two-run triple by Bridger Hunt highlighted the frame.

The offense continued for the ‘Stormers in the fifth, as they added three runs to extend their advantage to six. Long Island scored single runs in the fifth and seventh but could not inch closer.

Durbin (2-0) got the win, tossing six innings, allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out four. Zimmermann (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on six hits with six strikeouts in three and one-third innings.

Kraig Binick led the Ducks with three hits.

The series continues on Saturday night with Game Four between the Ducks and Barnstormers. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05 p.m. Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza.

Duck Tales: Kraig Binick picked up three hits in the contest and has earned at least one hit in each of the three games during the Championship Series. Dating back to the regular season, Binick has now hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games started, batting .371 (26-for-70) in that span…Mitch Canham also continued his hot hitting in the Championship Series with two hits and a walk. He is now 5-for-7 with one RBI and one run in the series.
