Lancaster evens the series
(Lancaster, Penn., Aug. 7, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Lancaster Barnstormers 13-1 on Wednesday night in a rain-shortened middle game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Lancaster struck first with three runs in the second inning off Ducks starter Bill Murphy. Kyle Haines doubled in a run, and Jason Taylor hit a two-run double for the Barnstormers. Ryan Strieby drove in a run with a groundout in the third inning off Lancaster starter Will Savage, but Olmo Rosario hit a two-run home run to right field in the bottom half of the frame to stretch the Barnstormers lead to four.
Lancaster added another run in the fourth inning on a Blake Gailen RBI single. Ryan Harvey smashed a two-run homer to left in the sixth, Kyle Haines knocked a two-run double to right in the seventh, and the Barnstormers added three more runs in the eighth before the rains came.
Savage (8-9) recorded the win, allowing one run on four hits in five innings of work. Murphy (2-12) took the loss, surrendering eight runs on twelve hits in six innings.
Bryant Nelson led the Ducks with two hits.
The Ducks continue their nine game road trip on Thursday with the finale of a three-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Clipper Magazine Stadium. Long Island returns home on Thursday, August 15 when they battle the Revolution in the opener of a four-game series.
