The Barnstormers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning of the opener against Ducks starter Bobby Blevins on back-to-back RBI triples by K.C. Hobson and Sean Halton. It would remain 2-0 until the bottom of the seventh. After a walk by Dan Johnson ended the day for Barnstormers starter Terry Doyle, Mike Blanke tied the game with a two-run home run to left field off Cory Burns.

Neither side could plate the winning run until the 10th inning when Josh Bell hit a two-out solo homer to left-center. Long Island put the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the frame but could not plate them.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Blevins threw six innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight. Doyle lasted six and one-third innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Pete Andrelczyk (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief despite allowing four hits and one walk while striking out two. Amalio Diaz (4-2) suffered the loss, giving up the winning run and striking out three in one inning of relief.

Ruben Gotay led the Flock with three hits, while Blake Tekotte added two.

Lancaster scored first as well in game two on a two-out RBI single by Bell in the first inning off Ducks starter Darin Downs. Long Island responded in the second inning on Blanke’s RBI groundout to third off Barnstormers starter Kelvin De La Cruz.

The Barnstormers would retake the lead in the sixth on Bell’s RBI single to left and a sac fly to right off the bat of Halton. Another run in the seventh on a wild pitch with Downs that plated Mike McDade extended the advantage to 4-1.

De La Cruz (4-6) earned the win, allowing just one run on two hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five. Downs (4-4) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits over six and two-thirds innings with seven strikeouts. Ryan Dennick picked up his first save of the year by recording the final four outs of the game.

Cody Puckett led the Flock with two hits at the plate.
