(Lancaster, Pa., Sept. 13, 2023) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 15-10 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The Ducks batted around and plated four runs in the first inning for a second straight day to take a 4-0 lead. Alejandro De Aza drew a bases loaded walk, Joe DeCarlo lined a two-run single to left field and Scott Kelly was hit by a pitch from Barnstormers starter Nile Ball with the bases loaded. Yeison Coca’s RBI single, Ariel Sandoval’s RBI fielder’s choice, Chad Sedio’s RBI double and Chris Proctor’s two-run homer did the damage. Two more runs in the fourth on a throwing error that scored Melvin Mercedes and Andretty Cordero’s RBI groundout made it 9-5.

Long Island trimmed the deficit to one in the fifth on Guzman’s RBI double and Boog Powell’s two-run single. Lancaster got the runs back though in the bottom of the frame on Trace Loehr’s two-run single and a wild pitch that scored Loehr. Two runs scored on a single to left by Ruben Tejada in the seventh, closing the gap to 12-10. The Barnstormers plated three more runs though in the eighth on Sandoval’s two-run double and Garcia’s RBI double to round out the scoring.
