Teams combine for 24 runs, 36 hits, and six home runs

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 13, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 16-8 on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Barnstormers were led at the plate by Josh Bell, who hit a solo home run in the third and a two-run blast in the fourth. He finished with three hits, four RBI and two runs. Mike McDade and K.C. Hobson each launched a two-run homer and collected three RBI apiece. Dean Wilson added three hits, two RBI and two runs as well.

The Ducks were paced offensively by Fehlandt Lentini, who clubbed a solo home run to left field in the third inning and a two-run blast to left in the sixth. He finished with four hits, coming just a triple shy of the cycle, and totaled four RBI and three runs. Mike Dowd also picked up four hits in the game and drove in a run, while Cody Puckett contributed with three hits, one RBI and one run.

Kelvin De La Cruz (9-9) picked up the win despite allowing six runs over five and two-thirds innings. He gave up 10 hits and two walks while striking out five. Chris McCoy (1-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits and a walk with one strikeout in two and one-third innings.

The Ducks and Barnstormers wrap up their three-game set on Sunday evening. Game time is slated for 5:05 p.m. with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 4:05 (3:50 for full season ticket holders). The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Khaki Baseball Caps, courtesy of Lawn Doctor. It’s also a Sunday Family Funday! Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Ducks. Following the game, kids and kids at heart can take part in Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Right-hander Nick Struck toes the rubber for the Ducks against Barnstormers righty Bryan Evans.
