Long Island exploded for four runs in the first inning against Bluefish starter Jimmy Patterson. A leadoff solo home run to left field by Fehlandt Lentini, a RBI single by Tyler Colvin, a bases loaded walk to Mike Blanke and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Ruben Gotay highlighted the frame.

Bridgeport answered with five runs in the third off Ducks starter Darin Downs to take a 5-4 lead. A two-run double by Josh Vitters, a RBI single by Welington Dotel and a two-run homer to left by Jonathan Galvez did the damage. Four more runs in the fourth on a sac fly from Jose Cuevas, a pair of Ducks errors and a RBI double by Galvez extended the advantage to 9-4.

The Ducks closed the gap to 9-6 in the bottom of the inning on a RBI double by Dan Lyons and a Bluefish error. A trio of runs in the fifth tied the game at nine, as Mike Dowd picked up a two-run single and Lentini collected a RBI single. Dowd would break the tie for good in the seventh with a RBI double to left-center.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Downs lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits while striking out four. Patterson pitched four innings, giving up 11 hits and eight runs (six earned) with one walk and one strikeout. Eury De La Rosa (1-2) picked up the win with a scoreless seventh inning, and Scott Shuman (1-2) took the loss, yielding a run on two hits in one inning of relief. Todd Coffey earned his sixth save with a perfect ninth.

Dowd, Lentini, Blanke and Sean Burroughs each collected three hits to lead the Ducks. Dowd finished with three RBI and a run scored, while Lentini had two RBI and two runs.

The Ducks continue their homestand on Friday night when the New Britain Bees make their first-ever visit to Long Island to begin a four-game set.
