New Britain took advantage of a first inning error and plated a run on a two-out RBI double by Jon Griffin. Three more runs in the second on a solo home run to left field by Conor Bierfeldt and a two-run homer to center by Michael Crouse off Ducks starter Jake Dunning extended the lead to four.

The Ducks got on the scoreboard in the second when Ruben Gotay crushed a solo homer to left off Bees starter Greg Nappo. However, a two-out, three-run home run to right by Jamar Walton in the fifth pushed their advantage to 7-1.

Angelo Songco gave Long Island its second homer of the day with a solo blast to right-center in the sixth. New Britain rounded out the scoring in the ninth on Nick Murphy’s RBI single to center.

Nappo (3-1) earned the win, tossing six innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Dunning (2-2) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts over five innings.

Songco and Alex Burg each had two hits to lead the Flock.
