Nick Bottari’s two-run double caps five-hit, five-RBI series for Wading River native
 

(Waldorf, Md., Aug. 22, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 13-2 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three-game series at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Southern Maryland’s offense was led by David Harris. The right fielder totaled four hits, including three home runs, hitting a solo shot in the second inning, a two-run shot in the fifth and a three-run blast in the eighth. He drove in seven runs and scored four times. Cesar Trejo also homered as part of a three-hit day. He finished with four RBIs and three runs.

Long Island’s only runs came in the seventh on a two-run double to left-center by Nick Bottari, who had two hits on the day. Chris Shaw also added two hits for Flock, including a double.

Daryl Thompson (9-2) earned the win, tossing eight innings of two-run ball, allowing seven hits and no walks while striking out four. Mazzaro (1-5) took the loss, giving up seven runs (four earned) on 11 hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts.

The Ducks return home on Tuesday night to begin a three-game series against the York Revolution. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s Under the Seat/Bikini Bottom Night at the ballpark and a Triple Play Tuesday, where one lucky fan can win $25,000 if the Ducks turn a triple play during the game. Right-hander Anderson DeLeon (3-2, 4.71) gets the start for the Ducks against Revolution righty Eduardo Rivera (2-2, 3.69).
