(Bridgeport, CT, May 2, 2012) – The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Long Island Ducks 3-2 in 15 innings on Wednesday night in the second game of a three-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

GAME AUDIO: Brandon Sing hits an inside-the-park two-run homer

Long Island plated two in the opening inning off Bluefish starter Tobi Stoner, as Bryant Nelson tripled down the right field line, and Brandon Sing followed with a two-run inside-the-park home run. Bridgeport cut the lead in half on a RBI single by Eddie Rogers in the fourth off Ducks starter Dan Meyer.

Bridgeport tied the game in the sixth on Joey Gathright’s RBI double to left. Both teams would then exchange zeroes until the bottom of the 15th inning when Gathright scored the winning run on a throwing error by Jeff Lyman.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Meyer pitched five innings, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out five, and Stoner threw seven innings, yielding two runs on five hits with four punch-outs. Joe Bateman (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief, striking out two, while Lyman (1-2) took the loss after allowing the winning run to score. The teams combined to use 13 pitchers in the game.

Nelson, Lew Ford and Josh Johnson each had two hits in the game for Long Island.
