(Bridgeport, Conn., July 14, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish 10-5 on Saturday night in the second game of a three-game set at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
GAME AUDIO: Josh Johnson’s two-run single
GAME AUDIO: Reid Gorecki’s solo home run
Long Island jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a run in the first on Brandon Sing’s RBI single and two in the second on a two-out, two-run single by Josh Johnson off Bluefish starter Dan Serafini. Bridgeport answered with six runs in their half of the second, highlighted by a three-run home run from James Simmons off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann.
The Ducks cut the lead to one in the fourth on Reid Gorecki’s solo homer, his fifth of the year, and a run-scoring groundout off the bat of Johnson. However, a four-run sixth for the Bluefish pushed the advantage to 10-5. A RBI single by Kennard Jones and a three-run blast from Eddie Rogers did the damage.
Serafini (3-0) earned the win despite allowing five runs on six hits in six innings of work. Zimmermann (4-3) suffered the loss, surrendering nine runs on nine hits and four walks in five and two-thirds innings.
Sing and Shawn Williams paced the Flock with two hits apiece, while Johnson earned his first three-RBI game of the year.
