Bridgeport struck first with three runs to open the game off Ducks starter Gustavo Chacin. Brock Peterson’s run-scoring double, Luis Lopez’ RBI sacrifice fly and James Simmons’ RBI single highlighted the scoring. Long Island would answer right back in the bottom of the frame off Bluefish starter Paul Oseguera with a two-run homer by Reid Gorecki to get within one.

Bridgeport got a run back in the second on a solo home run by Luis Rodriguez, but the Flock again answered with a RBI single by Kraig Binick and a run-scoring error to even the score at four. Shawn Williams broke the tie with a two-run single in the sixth, putting Long Island ahead 6-4, but the Bluefish grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh with four runs against Jason Monti, highlighted by a three-run homer from Peterson.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Gustavo Chacin tossed six innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out three, and Oseguera tossed five innings, yielding six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks. Joe Bateman (2-0) got the win, tossing two scoreless innings of relief, and Jason Monti (4-2) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on three hits in one-third of an inning. Jorge Julio earned his fifth save, pitching a scoreless ninth.

Binick paced the Ducks with two hits at the plate, while Gorecki and Williams chipped in two RBI apiece.
