Ducks re-sign Bobby Blevins

(Central Islip, N.Y., Feb. 26, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks today announced that they have signed two-time Atlantic League champion Bobby Blevins. The right-handed pitcher begins his third season with the Ducks in 2014.

“Bobby has been a big contributor to our back-to-back championships,” said Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff. “He strongly desired a return to Long Island, and we are happy to have him back on our pitching staff.”

Blevins first joined the Ducks in 2012 after starting the season with the Rockland Boulders (Can-Am League). In six games (four starts), he went 1-0 with a 2.42 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 26 innings. He then started the decisive Game Five of both the Liberty Division and Atlantic League Championship Series, pitching the Ducks to a pair of wins by allowing five earned runs in 12 innings (3.75 ERA).

The Briarcliff native again came to Long Island in September of 2013 and made two regular season starts, going 1-1 with a 4.84 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 13 innings. He then earned the start in Game Four of the ALCS against Somerset, yielding just one run and five hits while striking out four over eight innings. The 29-year-old has played seven years of professional baseball, advancing as high as Triple-A with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2010. Blevins was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 13th round of the 2007 amateur draft.
