(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 29, 2026) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs (ALPB) today announced its Drake All-Defensive Team for the 2026 season. Long Island Ducks outfielder Jorge Bonifacio was selected to the team, as voted on by the league’s member clubs.
“We’re very happy to have Jorge recognized by the Atlantic League for his defense,” said Ducks Manager Lew Ford. “While his contributions at the plate this season were historic, he also did a terrific job patrolling the outfield this year.”
Bonifacio played 86 games in the outfield this season without committing a single error. His 1.000 fielding percentage was tops among Atlantic League right fielders. He also totaled seven assists and 197 putouts, with his defense helping the Ducks post the second-highest fielding percentage (.980) and second-fewest errors (89) in 2026. The outstanding defensive season, coupled with setting franchise single-season records in home runs (30) and runs batted in (108), enabled the five-year Major League veteran to also be selected as the Ducks Team MVP, presented by Delmonte-Smelson Jewelers.
This marks the fourth consecutive season in which the Ducks earned an Atlantic League All-Defensive Team selection (third baseman Troy Viola, 2025; catcher Aaron Antonini, 2024; shortstop Ruben Tejada, 2023). Bonifacio is the 10th player in franchise history to earn an ALPB All-Defensive honor since the team’s inception in 2015. Two Ducks have also been selected as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year – shortstop Dan Lyons (2015 – inaugural award) and second baseman Steve Lombardozzi (2021).
