Both sides traded zeroes until the bottom of the fifth. Alex Burg doubled with one out against Bluefish starter Charles Brewer, and Jordan Hinshaw followed with an RBI single to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport rallied to tie the game with two outs in the seventh inning. Following a single and two walks, Welington Dotel was hit by a pitch to force in the tying run.
The Bluefish took the lead in the ninth inning. Following two errors to begin the inning, an RBI infield single by Gustavo Molina and a two-run single to center by Angelys Nina did the damage.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Ducks starter Jake Dunning tossed six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five. Brewer lasted six innings, yielding a run on five hits with four strikeouts. Elvin Ramirez (5-2) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit. Amalio Diaz (5-5) suffered the loss, surrendering three unearned runs on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in one inning. Manny Delcarmen collected his fifth save with a perfect ninth.
The Ducks begin their final road trip of the regular season on Monday when they visit the York Revolution for the makeup of this past Wednesday’s rainout. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. from PeoplesBank Park. Fans can follow all the action on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network.
