Camden struck first in the opening inning on a RBI single to left by Wilson Batista off Ducks starter Fernando Hernandez. The Ducks tied the game in the bottom of the inning when Adam Bailey reached on an infield single off Riversharks starter Scott Gorgen and Lew Ford scored on an error by Batista.
The ‘Sharks took the lead back in the second on a RBI single by Zack MacPhee and a two-run double off the bat of Jorge Cortes. A run-scoring single by Cortes in the fourth extended the advantage to 5-1.
Long Island closed to within one with three runs in the fifth. Sacrifice flies from Fehlandt Lentini and Joash Brodin, along with a RBI triple from Ford did the damage. However, a two-out RBI single by Batista in the sixth put the game out of reach.
Gorgen (1-2) picked up the win, tossing five innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out four. Hernandez (2-1) took the loss, surrendering five runs (three earned) on six hits and five walks in four innings. Matt Gorgen earned his fourth save with a scoreless seventh.
Both teams exchanged zeroes until the fourth inning of game two when Camden put up a three-spot against Ducks starter Jared Lansford. A bases loaded walk to Joel Galarraga and a two-run single by Norberto Susini did the damage.
The Ducks answered with a three-spot of their own in the fifth to tie the game. A throwing error by Batista and RBI doubles from Cody Puckett and Ford highlighted the inning. However, a RBI double by Alex Hudak in the top of the sixth put the Riversharks back on top.
Long Island would rally back once again in the bottom of the sixth. Following a single by Bailey and a walk by Chris McClendon, Brodin delivered a pinch hit three-run homer to right to put the Flock in front for good.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Lansford tossed three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Dan Blewitt pitched four and one-third innings, surrendering a run on two hits and four walks while striking out seven. Josh Lansford (1-0) picked up the win after retiring the only batter he faced in the sixth. Rob Semerano (1-3) was saddled with the loss, yielding three runs in his one inning of work. Leo Rosales earned his eighth save with a perfect ninth inning.
