(Bridgeport, Conn., May 23, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks shut out the Bridgeport Bluefish 3-0 on Tuesday night in the opener of a four-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

GAME VIDEO: Highlights from the shutout win

John Brownell (3-0) was brilliant for the Ducks to earn the victory. The right-hander allowed just six hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings and struck out three batters. In addition, he stranded five runners on base over the first two innings and seven total for the game.

Long Island broke a scoreless tie in the fourth on a two-run single to left field by Elmer Reyes off Bluefish starter Jonathan Albaladejo. A sacrifice fly to center field by Delta Cleary Jr. in the seventh scored Alex Burg to increase the lead to three.

Albaladejo (3-2) suffered the loss, yielding three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out seven. Amalio Diaz pitched a scoreless eighth for the Ducks before Chin-Hui Tsao tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his second save of the year. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one.

The Ducks and Bluefish continue their four-game set with a single admission doubleheader on Wednesday. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 10:35 a.m., with game two following approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the opener. Both games are slated for seven innings. Fans can follow all the action online on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network. Live streaming HD video and audio will be available via BoxCast on the Ducks’ official Facebook page, YouTube channel and at LIDucks.com. Right-hander Matt Larkins (0-3, 8.14) takes the mound for the Ducks in game one against Bluefish southpaw Chris Rearick (1-1, 5.10), while left-hander Jack Snodgrass makes his season debut for the Flock in game two against Bridgeport righty Charles Brewer (3-0, 6.28).
