Offense explodes and John Brownell throws complete game
(Bridgeport, Conn, July 27, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 8-1 on Saturday night in the third game of a four-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Ramon Castro opened the scoring for the Ducks with a RBI double to right field in the fourth inning. Long Island added three runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by Joash Brodin and Bryant Nelson, and a wild pitch.
The Ducks scored three more runs in the seventh inning as Kraig Binick hit a two-run single, and Nelson singled in a run as well. Bridgeport recorded their first hit and run in the eighth, with Brandon Chaves hitting a RBI double. Nelson stroked a RBI double in the ninth to wrap up the scoring.
Long Island starter John Brownell (9-6) picked up the win, allowing just one run on three hits with eight strikeouts in his league-leading fifth complete game. Josh Butler (3-6) took the loss, letting up four runs (two earned) on seven hits in five innings of work.
Binick and Nelson led the Ducks with three hits, and Nelson drove in three runs.
The Ducks wrap up their four-game set against Bridgeport Sunday afternoon. First pitch from The Ballpark at Harbor Yard is set for 1:05 p.m. Lefty Bill Murphy toes the rubber for the Ducks against Bridgeport southpaw Hunter Jones. Long Island returns home on Monday, July 29 to take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05.
