Righty earns league-leading 12th win with his first shutout of the year
(Waldorf, Md., August 8, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 6-0 on Friday evening in the finale of a three-game series at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Long Island took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out, two-run home run from Bill Hall to left field off Blue Crabs starter Gabriel Hernandez.
The Ducks opened up the ballgame in the top of the sixth inning with four runs. RBI singles from Brendan Harris, Cody Puckett and Evan Crawford, along with a run-scoring balk highlighted the inning.
Ducks starter John Brownell (12-6) tossed his first complete game shutout of the season. The righty held the Blue Crabs off the scoreboard over nine innings on four hits and three walks while striking out eight. Hernandez (4-8) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits with six strikeouts over six innings of work.
Lew Ford and Harris each led the Ducks with two hits apiece.
Long Island will begin a three-game series against the York Revolution Saturday. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Santander Stadium. Right-hander Bobby Blevins takes the mound for the Ducks against Revolution righty Scott Gorgen. Long Island will return home on Tuesday, August 12 to kick off a six-game homestand with the opener of a three-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
