(Sugar Land, Texas, May 23, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks shut out the Sugar Land Skeeters 4-0 on Friday night in the first game of a four-game series at Constellation Field.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the series opening victory

Both sides were held scoreless until the fourth inning when Keith Castillo delivered a two-out, two-run double to right off Skeeters starter Matt Wright. Long Island added two more in the seventh on a throwing error by Wright and a wild pitch by Ramon Delgado.

That was more than enough for John Brownell (2-3) to earn the win. The righty tossed seven shutout innings, allowing eight hits and two walks while tying a season-high with seven strikeouts. Wright (1-5) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in six and one-third innings.

Castillo and Lew Ford led the Flock offensively with two hits apiece.
