Right-hander tosses seven scoreless innings to collect win

(York, Penn., April 24, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 5-2 on Friday night in the opening game of the 2015 season at Santander Stadium.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the Opening Night victory

The Ducks struck for the season’s first run in the opening inning on Lew Ford’s RBI groundout to second base off Revolution starter Shawn Hill. Jon Griffin extended the lead to three in the fourth with an opposite-field two-run home run to right off York reliever Matt Neil.

It stayed 3-0 until the sixth inning when Cody Puckett launched a solo homer to left-center. Lew Ford tacked on a fifth run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to right. The Revolution plated two runs in the eighth inning on a RBI infield single from Brandon Boggs and a throwing error, but that was as close as they would come.

Ducks starter John Brownell (1-0) earned the win, tossing seven innings of two-hit shutout baseball, allowing just one walk while striking out four. Hill (0-1) took the loss, giving up one run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in three innings. Ryan Kussmaul earned his first save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Blake Davis led the Flock with two hits while Ford and Griffin each picked up two RBI.
