Long Island took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Giovanny Alfonzo, an RBI double by Fehlandt Lentini and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Delta Cleary Jr. The Ducks maintained the lead until the top of the sixth when Isaias Tejeda lifted a three-run home run to left field, tying the game at three.
Alex Burg put the Ducks back in front for good in the bottom of the frame with a mammoth solo homer to left. Four Ducks relievers then combined to keep the Revs off the scoreboard over the final three innings of the game.
Ducks starter Tim Melville did not factor into the decision but pitched five and one-third innings, yielding three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two. Zac Treece (2-1) picked up the win after pitching one and one-third scoreless innings of relief, giving up one hit while striking out one. Revolution starter Curtis Partch (0-3) took the loss, surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts in five innings. David Aardsma earned his third save with a perfect ninth inning, striking out Bryan Pounds to end the game.
Burg, Alfonzo and Elmer Reyes each had two hits to pace the Flock. Burg and Alfonzo each drove in and scored a run.
