Ducks erase 4-1 deficit to earn series split
(Central Islip, N.Y., May 4, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 8-7 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Revolution jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by Chad Tracy and Ofilio Castro off Ducks starter Casey Barnes. The Ducks answered back with a run in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring infield single off the bat of Lew Ford.
Two more runs in the third for York increased their advantage to three, but Long Island responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame against Revs starter Chris Cody to take a 5-4 lead. Fehlandt Lentini scored on a passed ball, and Adam Bailey launched a three-run home run to right field.
The Revolution knotted the game at five in the fifth when Johan Limonta scored on a throwing error by Jon Myers. However, Ford’s RBI double and Ryan Strieby’s two-run homer to right-center put the Ducks back in front 8-5. A two-run single by Salvador Paniagua in the seventh closed the gap to one, but York could not pull even.
Barnes did not factor into the decision but tossed three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five. Fernando Hernandez (1-0) earned the win after tossing two innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out three. Cody (0-1) took the loss, surrendering seven runs on seven hits in four and one-third innings. Leo Rosales earned his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
Ford led the Flock with three hits while Lentini and Myers added two apiece.
Following a day off on Monday, the Ducks will continue their homestand on Tuesday night when they host the Lancaster Barnstormers in the opener of a three-game series. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m. with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive 15th Anniversary Season Magnet Schedules, courtesy of the QuackerJack Foundation. Southpaw Matt Way will get the start for Long Island against Lancaster righty Chris Schwinden.

Duck Tales: Adam Bailey’s three-run home run in the third inning was his second homer of the year. The second-year Duck hit a two-run blast on Friday night against York. Ryan Strieby’s two-run homer in the fifth was his first longball of the season. Last year, he hit four home runs in 53 game with Long Island. It was the Ducks first multi-homer game of 2014, and the team has now launched six home runs in nine games…With three hits in the game, Lew Ford earned his first three-hit game and second multi-hit game of the year. With two hits apiece, Lentini picked up his third multi-hit contest while Myers earned his first. Adam Bailey had three RBI to earn his second multi-RBI game of 2014. Ford and Ryan Strieby also picked up their second multi-RBI contest with two runs driven in…The Ducks bullpen combined to pitch six innings today without allowing an earned run on Sunday. The relievers have now combined to give up just four earned runs over 38 and one-third innings this season, which is good for a 0.94 ERA. In that span, they have allowed 30 hits and 14 walks while striking out 38…Ducks pitchers struck out 12 Revolution batters in Sunday’s game, increasing their season total to 82 which leads the Atlantic League. The pitching staff has now struck out 10 or more batters in four consecutive games…Sunday’s crowd of 4,034 at Bethpage Ballpark increased the all-time attendance at the Duck Pond to 5,960,306. Long Island is now just 39,694 fans away from reaching the magical 6 million fan mark. Upon doing so, the Ducks will have achieved the milestone faster than any other professional sports team with a ballpark the size of Bethpage Ballpark (capacity 6,002).
