The Bluefish jumped out to an early lead off Ducks starter John Brownell. A RBI double from Sean Burroughs, followed by a sacrifice fly from Prentice Redman, provided Bridgeport with a 2-0 lead. Long Island responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second off Bluefish starter Tomo Ohka, highlighted by a RBI single from Cody Puckett and a throwing error from Bluefish catcher Luis Rodriguez, allowing a run to score from third.

Bridgeport added two more runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run homer from Cody Overbeck. From that point on, Brownell settled down, allowing only one Bluefish baserunner to reach second base in the next five innings. During that stretch, the Ducks cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth on a RBI single from Lew Ford.

Long Island grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth against Bluefish reliever Scott Maine. Brian Peacock led off the inning with a double down the left field line. Dan Lyons then dropped a bunt down the third line for an infield single, while a throwing error from Maine allowed Peacock to score and advanced Lyons to third. Lyons scored from third on a sacrifice fly from Fehlandt Lentini a batter later. Eric Niesen, Jeremy Accardo and Leo Rosales combined to finish the ballgame.

Brownell (1-2) earned his first win of the season, tossing seven innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, one walk and seven strikeouts. Ohka, who left with the lead, did not factor into the decision, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits, two walks and one strikeout over five and two-thirds innings. Maine (1-1) took the loss for Bridgeport after allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. Rosales earned his sixth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Joash Brodin paced the Ducks bats with three hits, a run and a stolen base, while Puckett added a pair of singles and a RBI.
