(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 6, 2026) – Members of the Long Island Ducks organization were joined by Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine on Tuesday at Fairfield Properties Ballpark to celebrate the team’s historic run to the 2026 Atlantic League Championship.

Romaine officially declared October 6, 2026, as “Long Island Ducks Day” and presented the Ducks with a proclamation recognizing the team’s record-setting season. Joining Romaine were Ducks President/Chief Business Officer Michael Pfaff, General Manager Sean Smith, Manager Lew Ford, 2026 Atlantic League Championship Series MVP Nick Margevicius and 2026 Atlantic League Mascot of the Year QuackerJack. The Proclamation reads:

WHEREAS: the Office of the Suffolk County Executive is proud to recognize those individuals who have rendered significant contributions for the enhancement of our region and the betterment of our residents; and

WHEREAS: as Suffolk County Executive, it is my honor to recognize the Long Island Ducks on winning the 2026 Atlantic League Championship. This extraordinary accomplishment reflects the hard work, determination, teamwork, and perseverance displayed by the players and coaching staff throughout the season. Bringing home a championship is a tremendous achievement, and the Ducks have given their loyal fans across Suffolk County and Long Island a season to remember; and

WHEREAS: for years, the Long Island Ducks have been an important part of our community, bringing families together and providing affordable, exciting entertainment at the ballpark. Their success extends beyond the field, as the organization continues to strengthen its connection with fans and communities throughout Long Island. This championship is another proud chapter in the Ducks’ history and a celebration shared by everyone who has supported the team; and

WHEREAS: as Suffolk County Executive, I am proud to recognize the entire Ducks organization, including the players, coaches, front office, staff, and the devoted fans whose support helped make this championship season so special. Their collective commitment demonstrates the power of teamwork and what can be accomplished when talented individuals come together with a common purpose. The Ducks have represented Long Island with pride and distinction throughout their championship run.

The Long Island Ducks posted the Atlantic League’s best record during the 2026 regular season at 80-46 and compiled a franchise record .635 winning percentage. The Ducks then swept both of their postseason series against Hagerstown and Southern Maryland, completing a perfect 6-0 playoff run for the first time in team history and third time in league history. This year marked Long Island’s fifth Atlantic League Championship, joining previous titles in 2004, 2012, 2013 and 2019. The organization received proclamations from the Suffolk County Legislature following each championship as well.

The Long Island Ducks have completed their 26th season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, N.Y. They are the all-time leader in wins and attendance in Atlantic League history, have led all MLB Partner Leagues in total attendance for six consecutive seasons, and have sold out a record 730 games all-time.
