Long Island finishes off 6-1 homestand with fifth consecutive victory
 

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 9, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 4-1 on Thursday night in the final game of a three-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

Southern Maryland struck first in the top of the first inning on David Harris’ RBI single to center field off Ducks starter Anderson DeLeon. Long Island responded with two in the bottom of the frame on Vladimir Frias leadoff solo home run to right, a triple by Steve Lombardozzi and a run-scoring wild pitch by Blue Crabs starter Carl Brice. Two-out RBI singles from Lombardozzi in the second and Ramon Flores in the third extended the Ducks lead to 4-1.

DeLeon (5-4) went the distance to earn the win. He tossed all seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits and no walks while striking out six batters. Brice (3-4) took the loss, yielding four runs on five hits and six walks over three innings.

Lombardozzi led the Flock offensively with two hits, an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Flores added two hits and an RBI, while Frias finished with a hit and two walks.

The Ducks hit the road on Friday night to open a four-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Long Island returns home on Friday, September 17, to begin a three-game series against the York Revolution. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Fireworks Spectacular, presented by NYCB.
