(Lancaster, Pa., July 4, 2023) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Lancaster Barnstormers 14-3 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game midweek series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The Ducks took an immediate 3-0 lead against Barnstormers starting pitcher Brandyn Sittinger five batters into the ballgame thanks to a three-run home run to right field off the bat of Alex Dickerson. Lancaster got to within 3-1 in the home half of the frame versus Long Island starter Robert Stock as Ariel Sandoval plated Shawon Dunston, Jr. by way of an RBI infield single.

Leading 3-2, Dickerson was at it once again in the fourth as the outfielder led off the inning by launching a laser beam of a four-bagger just over the right field fence for his second big fly in as many at bats. The visitors broke the game wide open in the fifth as they sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven more times to take a commanding 11-2 advantage, highlighted by a bases loaded walk to Dickerson, a sacrifice fly off the bat of Joe DeCarlo, a two-run single from Brian Goodwin, and an RBI double by Alejandro De Aza. Back-to-back RBI singles from De Aza and Sam Travis in the seventh, and a walk with three Ducks on the pond in the eighth issued to Ruben Tejada closed out the scoring for the Flock.

Stock (4-0) was victorious as the right-hander allowed just two runs on seven hits (one home run) across seven innings pitched, walking two while striking out four and tallied his second consecutive quality start in the process. Sittinger (3-6) was tagged with the loss, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on six hits (two home runs) in four innings of work, walking and striking out five.

Dickerson led the offensive attack for Long Island with his two taters along with five runs batted in, three runs scored and a walk.
