Former Duck tosses first no-hitter in Barnstormers history
(Lancaster, Penn., May 8, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 9-0 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Barnstormers starter and former Duck Lenny DiNardo (2-2) tossed the first no-hitter in Lancaster Barnstormers history, limiting the Ducks to just two walks in the game while striking out eight. He faced just one batter over the minimum and threw a total of 115 pitches, 77 of them for strikes.
Lancaster was led offensively by Kody Kirkland who hit a pair of home runs, drove in three runs and scored twice. Olmo Rosario also added a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Duck starter Nick DeBarr (0-3) suffered the loss, yielding seven runs (six earned) on eight hits in three and two-thirds innings of work.
The Ducks and Barnstormers wrap up their four-game series on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. from Clipper Magazine Stadium. Southpaw Bill Murphy takes the mound for the Ducks against Barnstormer right-hander Alan Johnson. Long Island returns home on Friday, May 10 to open a three-game set against the Patriots. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05.
