Long Island struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly and RBI off the bat of Lew Ford. It stayed that way until the top of the ninth when Geraldo Valentin’s solo home run tied the game at one.

In the 10th, Welington Dotel hit a solo homer to right-center field, giving the Bluefish a 2-1 lead. Bridgeport closer David Carpenter allowed two walks and a hit batsman to load the bases, but retired the side for the save in the bottom of the frame.

Neither starter factored in the decision. Ducks starter Daniel Herrera turned in eight scoreless innings, allowing six hits and five walks with two strikeouts in the victory. Bridgeport’s Jonathan Albaladejo allowed one run on three hits with two walks, striking out five over seven innings. Sam Gervacio (1-2) collected the win, striking two in one inning.
