(Staten Island, N.Y., Sept. 7, 2026) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Staten Island FerryHawks 11-7 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game series at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.
Staten Island took a 1-0 advantage in the bottom half of the first inning on an Alfredo Gonzalez RBI single off Long Island starting pitcher Tanner Jacobson. The Ducks sent 13 batters to the plate versus FerryHawks starter Charlie Adamson and scored eight runs for and 8-1 advantage, highlighted by a 408-foot three-run home run to left center field off the bat of Henry Kusiak, a bases loaded RBI walk issued to Gavin Collins, a two-run single from Anthony Garcia, and a Kusiak two-run double.
The Flock added a run in the third on Jacob Robson’s 409-foot solo home run to right into the trees. Robson was at it again in the sixth as he belted a mammoth 455-foot leadoff solo tater to straightaway center. The visitors closed out the scoring in the eighth courtesy of Kole Kaler RBI two-base hit as the Ducks pounded out 10 hits in the victory and are now in sole possession of first place by one-half game over the York Revolution in the second half of the North Division Standings with five contests remaining in the regular season.
Jacobson (7-5) was the winning pitcher as the right-hander allowed seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in five innings pitched, walking three while striking out six. Adamson (2-10) suffered the loss, giving up eight runs on six hits in just one and two-thirds innings on the mound to go along with five walks.
Robson had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored. Kusiak had a pair of hits, his second five RBI game of the season, a run scored and was hit by a pitch. Alsander Womack chipped in with two hits as well en route to the victory.
The Ducks and FerryHawks wrap up their three-game set on Tuesday morning with a single-admission doubleheader, as each contest is scheduled for seven innings of play. First pitch in game one is slated for 11:00 a.m. at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park, with the nightcap taking place approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opening contest.
