Long Island plated a run in the first inning of game one on Lew Ford’s RBI single to center field. Giovanny Alfonzo extended the lead to 4-0 in the second with a three-run home run to left-center off Revolution starter Victor Mateo.

York got on the scoreboard in the third when Jared Mitchell lifted a sacrifice fly to center off Ducks starter John Brownell. The Revs got no closer though, as a two-out RBI double by Marc Krauss in the seventh rounded out the scoring.

Brownell (10-4) earned the win with a complete game effort, tossing seven innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six. Mateo (6-9) took the loss, yielding four runs on eight hits and two walks with two strikeouts in five and one-third innings.

Elmer Reyes led the Flock with three hits in the game, while Alfonzo added two hits, three RBI and a run.

York jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two with a three-run second inning and another run in the third against Ducks starter Matt Larkins. A bases loaded walk to Chase Simpson, a two-out, two-run single by Mitchell and a solo homer to right by Michael Burgess did the damage.

The Ducks closed to within 4-3 with a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth off Revolution starter Frank Gailey. An RBI single to right by Derrick Pyles and a two-run homer to left-center by Jordan Hinshaw cut the deficit to one. Long Island put the tying and go-ahead runs on in the sixth but could not pull even.

Gailey (13-9) got the win, pitching five innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings. Larkins (9-7) suffered the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings while striking out six. Chase Huchingson collected his fourth save with a scoreless seventh.

Pyles had two hits to lead the Ducks in game two.

The Ducks return home on Friday to begin a three-game series against the Bridgeport Bluefish, the final homestand of the regular season. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s Back to School Night at the ballpark, and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Notebooks, courtesy of Long Island Teachers. It’s also a Fowl Pole Friday, and if a select Ducks player hits a home run off of one of the foul poles during the game, one lucky fan will win $50,000. In addition, a Bluefish player will be selected as the Pizza Hut K-Man of the game.
