Turbo Extends On-Base Streak
(York, PA, June 12, 2021) – The York Revolution defeated the Long Island Ducks 3-1 at PeoplesBank Park on Saturday night to even up the three-game weekend series at a victory apiece.
Long Island took an immediate 1-0 lead against Revolution winning pitcher Austin Nicely (1-1) just three batters into the ballgame thanks to a sacrifice fly produced by L.J. Mazzilli that plated Steve Lombardozzi after Lombardozzi singled with one man down. Nicely would settle down from there, surrendering just an unearned run on three hits in six and two-thirds innings on the mound, walking four and striking out three.
York tied the game at one versus losing pitcher Brendan Feldmann (0-1) in the home half of the fifth frame also by way of a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jack Kenley which allowed Carlos Castro to cross the plate after he opened up the inning with a clean single and advanced to third base by way of a wild pitch. The Revolution went ahead for good 3-1 in the last of the sixth when Melky Mesa launched his first home run of the season over the left centerfield wall, a two-run shot that would give the game its final score. Feldmann notched his first quality start of 2021, allowing three runs on seven hits (one home run) across seven innings pitched, walking one while collecting four punchouts. The Ducks threatened but did not score numerous times late in the ballgame to fall just short as they saw their season-best three-game winning streak come to a close. Jim Fuller shut the door in the ninth for his second save of the campaign. Despite the loss, Johnni Turbo drew a walk in the seventh, extending his on-base streak to a team-best nine consecutive games overall. Sal Giardina led the way at the plate with two hits in defeat.
The Ducks play the finale and rubber game of their series against the York Revolution on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at PeoplesBank Park. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It’s a Triple Play Tuesday at the ballpark!
