Sugar Land rallies for 4-2 victory over Flock
(Sugar Land, Texas, Aug. 5, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Sugar Land Skeeters 4-2 on Wednesday night in the opener of a four-game series at Constellation Field.

The Skeeters struck first in the opening inning on a RBI double to right field by Delwyn Young off of Ducks starter Ian Marshall. The Ducks answered back in the fourth with a RBI double to left by Cody Puckett and a RBI single to right by Bryan Sabatella, both with two outs, off of Skeeters starter Roy Merritt.
Sugar Land took the lead back in the fifth on a run-scoring single to right from Young and a sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Chris Wallace. A solo homer to left by Young in the seventh increased the advantage to 4-2.
Merritt (5-3) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out seven. Marshall (4-6) took the loss, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings. Derrick Loop earned his 10th save of the year with a perfect ninth inning.
Long Island and Sugar Land continue their four-game set on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EDT from Constellation Field. The Ducks return home on Sunday, August 9 to open up a four-game set against the Camden Riversharks. Game time is slated for 5:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 4:05 (3:50 for full season ticket holders). Sunday will be Jewish Heritage Night at the ballpark, and the Ducks will be running promotions, videos, and music with a Jewish theme. It will also be a Sunday Family Funday! Prior to the game, fans will be invited onto the field for an autograph session with the Ducks from 4:20 to 4:35 p.m. After the game, kids and kids at heart can take part in Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
