Rob Rogers and Tyler Levine toss scoreless innings out of the bullpen

(New Britain, Conn., May 12, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the New Britain Bees 6-0 Friday night at New Britain Stadium.

GAME VIDEO: Cody Puckett makes a great play at third base

Ducks (9-13) starter Matt Larkins was strong early, holding the Bees off the scoreboard until the bottom of the fourth, when the Bees struck for a pair of runs. A Jon Griffin RBI single brought home Craig Maddox with the game’s first run, and a Jamar Walton sacrifice fly plated Conor Bierfeldt to give New Britain a 2-0 lead.

Larkins (0-2) was strong outside of that blip, lasting five innings and allowing just two runs on six hits, walking two and striking out four.

New Britain (7-14) tacked on four against the combination of Tyler Wilson and Jim Fuller in the bottom of the sixth; with the big blow being a two-run triple from Michael Crouse off Fuller. Rob Rogers and Tyler Levine were able to keep the Bees off the scoreboard in the final two innings of the game.

Kyle Simon (2-1) got the win for the Bees, tossing five innings of three-hit ball. Long Island threatened in the ninth by putting runners at first and second, but couldn’t score against Mike Hepple.

Giovanny Alfonzo led the Ducks offense by going 2-for-4, and Marc Krauss reached base twice on walks.

The Ducks continue their series with the Bees Saturday night at 6:35 pm. Fans can follow all the action online on the Long Island Ducks Broadcast Network. Live streaming HD video and audio will be available via BoxCast on the Ducks’ official Facebook page, YouTube channel and at LIDucks.com. Left-handed pitcher Rafael Perez (1-1, 5.06) takes the mound for Long Island, New Britain will counter with Mike Lee (0-1, 9.64).
