Long Island continues road trip on Friday in Texas
(New Britain, Conn., Aug. 18, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the New Britain Bees 7-0 on Thursday night in the finale of a four-game series at New Britain Stadium.
A throwing error on a potential inning-ending double play in the second allowed Michael Crouse to score and gave the Bees a 1-0 lead. Crouse’s RBI double and Jon Griffin’s run-scoring groundout in the fourth extended New Britain’s lead to three.
New Britain would plate another run in the fifth on Jovan Rosa’s RBI single. Three more runs rounded out the scoring in the eighth courtesy of RBI singles by Jonathan Roof and Jon Dziomba and a throwing error that scored Roof.
Mike Lee (5-5) earned the win with six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out five. Chris McCoy (1-2) took the loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on seven hits in six innings, walking one while striking out three.
Anthony Vega, Ruben Gotay and Tyler Colvin each had two hits to lead the Flock.
The Ducks continue their road trip on Friday night when they open a three-game series in Texas against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Game time is slated for 8:05 p.m. EDT at Constellation Field.
