(Camden, N.J., Sept. 23, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 4-2 on Sunday evening in the final game of the 2012 regular season at Campbell’s Field.

Camden struck first in the bottom of the second on a RBI groundout to first by Juan Martinez off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann. Long Island responded with two in the fourth off Riversharks reliever Josh Walter on a run-scoring groundout off the bat of Bryant Nelson and a RBI double to center by Lee Cruz.

The Ducks added two more in the seventh inning on a solo homer to right by Mitch Canham and a RBI double to left by Joash Brodin. A RBI triple by Chris Berroa in the bottom of the frame brought the ‘Sharks within two, but that was as close as they would come.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Zimmermann went three innings, allowing a run on three hits while striking out five, and Steve Fox lasted three innings, surrendering just two hits with three strikeouts. Bobby Blevins (1-0) earned the win, allowing just one hit in two innings with one strikeout, and Walter (0-4) took the loss, surrendering two runs (one earned) on two hits in two innings. Leo Rosales earned his sixth save with a scoreless ninth.

Cruz led the Ducks with three hits at the plate.
