Daniel Mayora opened the game with a solo home run to center off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann to give the Bluefish a 1-0 lead. Long Island answered with a three-run third inning against Bridgeport starter Hunter Jones. A sacrifice fly to center off the bat of Josh Barfield and a two-run homer to center by Bill Hall did the damage. Alexis Gomez trimmed the lead to one in the seventh with a solo homer to center, but that was as close as Bridgeport would come.

Zimmermann (1-1) earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Jones (3-7) took the loss, yielding three runs on five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings. Leo Rosales earned his 14th save with a scoreless ninth, striking out the side to end the game.

Hall led the Ducks with two hits and two RBI.
