(York, Pa., Sept. 2, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 7-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.

Back-to-back hits by Jordany Valdespin and Daniel Fields, along with a run-scoring wild pitch by Revolution starter Logan Williamson, gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead in the first inning. It stayed that way until the fourth inning when Long Island plated three runs to extend their lead to four. An RBI single by Dioner Navarro and a two-out, two-run double by Dan Lyons did the damage.

An RBI ground rule double by Welington Dotel in the bottom of the fourth off Ducks starter Dennis O’Grady brought York to within three. However, Carlos Pimentel struck out two to leave the bases loaded in the inning. Then, a three-run fifth for the Flock put the game out of reach at 7-1. Sacrifice flies from Navarro and Cody Puckett, along with an RBI double by Miles Williams, highlighted the inning.

York closed to within four in the seventh inning on a two-run single to right-center by Henry Castillo. Colton Murray came into the game though and struck out two of the three batters he faced to escape a two-on, no-out jam. York would get no closer, as Logan Ondrusek tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning and Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth.

O’Grady did not factor into the decision but lasted three and one-third innings, allowing a run on three hits and two walks while striking out three. Carlos Pimentel (4-3) earned the win, tossing one and two-thirds scoreless innings, allowing just one walk while striking out two. Williamson (6-5) suffered the loss, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits and a walk over four innings with two strikeouts.

Lyons led the Flock with three hits and two RBIs. Navarro added two hits, two RBIs and a run, while Taylor Ard and Ramon Cabrera each chipped in with two hits and two runs.

The Ducks return home on Tuesday to begin a three-game series against the New Britain Bees.
