Long Island begins seven-game road trip on Monday

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 14, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers on Sunday evening in the finale of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks hit the road on Monday to begin a four-game series against the New Britain Bees. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m. at New Britain Stadium. It’s the “Ducks Game of the Week,” and fans can follow all the action live on the Ducks’ flagship radio station, 103.9-FM LI News Radio. Bryan Evans (4-8) earned the win by tossing a complete game shutout. The righty allowed just two hits while striking out 13 batters. Nick Struck (1-3) took the loss, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.

Lancaster was led at the plate by K.C. Hobson, who had a pair of home runs and collected four RBI and three runs. Josh Bell and Mike McDade each added three hits and an RBI as well. Delta Cleary Jr. earned a double and a triple to pace Long Island’s offense.

Long Island returns home on Tuesday, August 23 to open a three-game set against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive Good Times, Every Time Beach Balls, courtesy of Dunrite Pools.
