(York, Penn., Sept. 1, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 5-2 on Saturday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

The Revolution grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run single to center field by Travis Scott off Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann. The Ducks would fight back to tie it at two with a run in the sixth off Revs starter Corey Thurman and another in the seventh. Kraig Binick’s solo homer to left and Bryant Nelson’s RBI single pulled the Flock even.

York would grab the lead back for good with a three-run eighth to take a 5-2 advantage. Two run-scoring errors and a RBI groundout by Joe Thurston did the damage.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Zimmermann tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five, and Thurman lasted five and two-thirds innings, yielding a run on four hits with three strikeouts. R.J. Rodriguez (1-3) got the win with a scoreless inning of relief, and Eric Niesen (2-2) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs (one earned) in one-third of an inning. Ricardo Gomez earned his 11th save with a scoreless ninth.

The Ducks and Revolution close out their three-game set on Sunday afternoon. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. from Sovereign Bank Stadium.
