Long Island to face Somerset in Liberty Division Championship Series

(York, Pa., Sept. 18, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 8-3 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the 2016 regular season at PeoplesBank Park. The Ducks end the year with an overall record of 72-68, good for their third consecutive winning season and 13th in 17 season of play.

Fehlandt Lentini and Tyler Colvin led the Ducks offensively in the finale, collecting three hits apiece. Lentini finished with two doubles, two runs and a stolen base in the game. He ends the year with league-best totals in hits (179), runs scored (108), at bats (571) and doubles. Colvin smacked his fifth home run of the season, a solo blast to left-center field, and ended the year going 9-for-16 at the plate in the four-game set at York.

The Revolution were led by Travis Witherspoon, Jared Mitchell and Andres Perez, who each had three had three hits. Witherspoon collected two doubles, two RBI and two runs, while Mitchell drove in two runs and Perez scored twice while hitting his 14th home run of 2016. Keith Castillo also went deep for his fifth of the year.

Revolution starter Ty’Relle Harris did not factor into the decision, lasting four innings and allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four. Michael Click (7-3) collected the win despite allowing a run on one hit in one inning of relief. Jarret Leverett (6-9) suffered the loss, yielding four runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings with three strikeouts.

The Ducks will begin the 2016 Atlantic League playoffs on Wednesday night with Game One of the Liberty Division Championship Series against the Somerset Patriots. After playing Games One and Two on the road, the best-of-five series will return to Long Island on Friday, September 23 for Game Three. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders).
